Amoxyclav - Amoxycilin and Potassium Clavulante 1.2 g Injection

Amoxicillin belongs to the penicillin class of antibiotics and works by interfering with the formation of bacterial cell walls, causing bacteria to weaken and die. Potassium Clavulanate is added to the combination because it helps block certain bacterial enzymes that can break down amoxicillin, allowing the antibiotic to remain effective against bacteria that might otherwise resist it. Together, this combination is used to treat a variety of infections, including sinusitis, ear infections, respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, and certain skin and soft tissue infections. Its broadened spectrum of activity makes it particularly useful for infections caused by bacteria that produce resistance enzymes against standard amoxicillin alone. The medication is typically taken orally, usually two to three times a day, and is often taken with food to help reduce the chance of stomach upset.
