Actiza - Gentamicin 0.3% Eye Drop

Gentamicin belongs to a class of antibiotics known as aminoglycosides, which work by interfering with bacterial protein synthesis, ultimately stopping bacteria from growing and multiplying. When applied as eye drops, it is commonly used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis and other superficial bacterial infections of the eye, helping clear symptoms such as redness, discharge, and irritation. It is also sometimes used following certain eye procedures to help prevent infection during the healing process, as directed by an eye care provider. The eye drops are typically applied several times a day, with the exact frequency and duration determined based on the severity of the infection being treated. Completing the full prescribed course, even after symptoms begin to improve, helps ensure the infection is fully cleared and reduces the risk of the bacteria returning.
